"Today at we are going to learn about the ocean" said the teacher. I never liked science. I have never been to the ocean, learning about it in school wouldn't really change that. "Who knows how tidal waves are formed?" said the teacher. She looked directly at me and said,"Leo how about you?". I wasn't the brightest student in class, but I knew how waves were formed.
(1)"Ocean tides are caused by the Earth rotating while the Moon and Sun’s gravitational pull acts on ocean water" I said with a confident voice. "Yes, that is very true that the moon and sun's pull has a great affect on the ocean" she said. I knew many things about the ocean. Like how (2)the largest ocean on Earth is the Pacific Ocean, it covers around 30% of the Earth’s surface, or how (3)during winter the Arctic Ocean is almost completely covered in sea ice, how the (4)Water takes around 1000 years to travel all the way around the whole globe, and how (5)Half of all the oxygen we breathe is produced in the ocean ,and(6)Oceans hold around 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere, or how (7)the most remote point in the oceans is called Point Nemo, and more. I had done my research because my parents never took me to see the ocean, so I thought that if I did that it could be like seeing the ocean. I wasn't like seeing the ocean! "Tommy what is the name of the job people who study oceans called?" Tommy was also a very smart child, so he answered (8)"The scientists who specialize in study of oceans are called Oceanographers." Tommy is a crony of mine and he taught me that (9)Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning high sea-waves. I wasn't really paying attention until the teacher said (10)"Do you know what a Knot is? It is a measure of speed at sea One knot equals 1.85 kilometer per hour." I already knew what a knot was. Class was about to be over and I was ready to leave the boring classroom. Science was never my favorite subject. Before the bell rang the teacher said "Make sure to bring and bathing suit and a towel because tomorrow we are taking a trip to the ocean!" Maybe science isn't the worst subject.
