The word hero to me is someone who can change how someone feels and does a great thing someone who doesn't lead but never gives up . A hero in my life is my mom. She has motivated and inspired me to do things that may seem impossible. She works so hard and still has the energy to make dinner and go outside for a walk. She does not get much sleep which is okay for someone her age. She always has the ability to make friends with anyone. I love her enthusiasm when it comes to family. She never gives up even if she doesn't have enough energy to do these things. My mom is very outgoing and even if her English isn't that good she will still try to communicate with people. My mom has a very unique personality and I love her never giving up attitude. I love my mom and to me I see her as a hero.
When I was 8 years old I was given a promise to my sister that she would take me to get anything I wanted at the store on my birthday. I was so excited because my birthday landed on the last day of school. I waited outside the school because she said that she would pick me up from there. I waited and waited watching all the kids getting picked up or walking home. It didn't really bother me to wait for her because maybe she got stuck by the train or maybe that she stopped to get something and was on her way. I didn't care because I was so excited to just go somewhere with my sister. Then I started to get worried because she didn't show up at anytime. I was the only one outside waiting. There were a few cars in the parking lot, but they were the staff cars. Then minutes passed and the principle came out and asked me if I needed to call someone to pick me up. I didn't want to so I walked home instead. I knew my way home very well and I didn't take that long to get home by foot. I got home and my parents were at work and no one was home. My younger sister's school bus dropped her off and we watched the television while eating cookies. My parents got home and made dinner they asked me where Raquel was and I told then that I hadn't seen her all day. I was upset because it was something I was looking forward to. We ate cake and I opened some presents. When she got home the sun had gone down and it was late. I was tired and wanted to go to sleep. She talked to me and told me that she was sorry and that she couldn't make it because of practice. I wasn't as upset as I was from the start. She got me a small bracelet that I only wear on my birthday. Other than the sad parts it was an okay day.
"Today at we are going to learn about the ocean" said the teacher. I never liked science. I have never been to the ocean, learning about it in school wouldn't really change that. "Who knows how tidal waves are formed?" said the teacher. She looked directly at me and said,"Leo how about you?". I wasn't the brightest student in class, but I knew how waves were formed.
(1)"Ocean tides are caused by the Earth rotating while the Moon and Sun’s gravitational pull acts on ocean water" I said with a confident voice. "Yes, that is very true that the moon and sun's pull has a great affect on the ocean" she said. I knew many things about the ocean. Like how (2)the largest ocean on Earth is the Pacific Ocean, it covers around 30% of the Earth’s surface, or how (3)during winter the Arctic Ocean is almost completely covered in sea ice, how the (4)Water takes around 1000 years to travel all the way around the whole globe, and how (5)Half of all the oxygen we breathe is produced in the ocean ,and(6)Oceans hold around 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere, or how (7)the most remote point in the oceans is called Point Nemo, and more. I had done my research because my parents never took me to see the ocean, so I thought that if I did that it could be like seeing the ocean. I wasn't like seeing the ocean! "Tommy what is the name of the job people who study oceans called?" Tommy was also a very smart child, so he answered (8)"The scientists who specialize in study of oceans are called Oceanographers." Tommy is a crony of mine and he taught me that (9)Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning high sea-waves. I wasn't really paying attention until the teacher said (10)"Do you know what a Knot is? It is a measure of speed at sea One knot equals 1.85 kilometer per hour." I already knew what a knot was. Class was about to be over and I was ready to leave the boring classroom. Science was never my favorite subject. Before the bell rang the teacher said "Make sure to bring and bathing suit and a towel because tomorrow we are taking a trip to the ocean!" Maybe science isn't the worst subject. If today were to be the last day on earth I would be the worst day ever. I wouldn't know what to do with so much pressure into putting all the things I want into one day. I would not be able to do the things that I really want to do. I would love to visit Japan, but It would probably take hours or even days to get there. So that would mean I wouldn't be able to go to Japan. I would love to finish all of my favorite t.v series, but that would take hours and I would have wasted my time just watching television. I would spend time with family instead then. I have never really thought about the last day of my life. I don't really want it to come soon because I want to go to college and travel the world. I do also think that there can good things that I can do on the last day on earth. I can spend time with my whole family and enjoy a fire outside in the fire pit and do things we would usually do when we are together. It would be a good day if I spend it the way we would spend it on vacation or spring break. It may be sad to not fulfill the big dreams that I have, but it may be good day to spend it with my family and be happy with them.
The best part of Spring Break was on Sunday. It was the last day of spring break for me, but my cousins they just started their spring break. I loved that day. It was Easter that day and we had a cook out. My family gathered at my house and it was like a reunion. I had a lot of fun even if it was a little cold that day. We rode on the motor bike and we watched horror movies and ate a lot of candy. I like my family being able to gather around together and not care about what they have to do the next day because when i'm with my family I don't have a care or worry. It is days like these that make it want to last forever. We all have of way of saying that you care about someone and with my family we just gather at whomever's house and relax , watch movies, eat food, play games, and maybe make a fire in the fire pit. I know spring break is over, but that just means it closer to summer vacation and more time with my family and friends.
